Building M&E for adaptation – what can we learn from a sectorial approach? Lessons from national case studies and experiences

Facilitators: FAO, IIED Contributors: Julia Wolf (FAO); Jorge Gutierrez (Colombia); Muhammad Semambo (Uganda); Silvia Zuñiga Orellana (Guatemala); Umberto Labate (UNDP), Simon Addison (IIED)

The session will focus on reviewing existing agriculture sector national level adaptation monitoring, evaluation & learning (MEL) frameworks relevant for reporting and tracking progress on adaptation of NDC/NAPs and the ETF. It will demonstrate how national adaptation MEL systems can link with other systems (e.g. national reporting on SDGs). The session will inform country representatives on the Koronivia Joint work on Agriculture under UNFCCC negotiations.

In summary, the session will allow country representatives to share experiences, good practices and lessons learned on MEL framework design and selection of indicators for adaptation reporting. Participants will gain a better understanding of how national systems can be harnessed and improved for NDCs/NAP reporting and increased transparency.
