The practice of collaborative climate action & locally defined contributions – for a multi-level governance approach to NDC revisions

Facilitators: UCLG Africa; adelphi Contributors: Telly Chauke (South Africa); Sandee Rebacar (Philippines); Tucker Landesmann (adelphi); Lisa Strauch (adelphi); Mohamed Nbou (UCLG Africa)

A growing consensus affirms that collaborative climate action is necessary to achieve the Paris Agreement goals. But even though cities and regions can affect 80% of all GHG emissions, they are underrepresented in NDCs and are often constrained by national policy and finance frameworks.

This session will interactively explore successful mechanisms to scale up subnational action through collaboration across governing levels. We will share strategies to localize NDCs and to empower and equip subnational governments to actively contribute to national targets and policy implementation.
