6. Understanding financing needs for urban climate action

Date: Thursday 1st June
Time: 11:00-13:00
Room: Reindeer

In the breakout session “Understanding financing needs for urban climate action”, led by the Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA) and ICLEI, participants will consider how national governments can scale finance for urban climate action and the many opportunities for doing so. To set the background for the session: (1) CCFLA will present 7 key actions from their Policy Brief; (2) ICLEI will summarize their call to action on climate emergency finance; and (3) UN Habitat will present urban context for NDCs. After hearing how subnational and national level policymakers (among other stakeholders) can strengthen collaboration, participants will then share and consider countries’ current urban policy and investment, and actions to address urban climate needs.
