Mobilising private finance is essential to meet climate goals. This session explores how innovative financial instruments—such as green bonds, credit guarantees, carbon markets, and more—can support the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by catalyzing private investment in climate action.

Drawing on new research from IISD, participants will examine which instruments are most relevant in different country contexts and discuss enabling conditions, and donor support. A dedicated focus will explore the unique challenges and opportunities for using these tools in least developed countries (LDCs), where structural barriers and capacity constraints require targeted and phased approaches.
