This opening panel conversation focuses on governance and policy processes that enable just, feasible, and financeable NDCs. Panellists will share lessons learned from NDC implementation and the first NDC update cycle, will speak on the roles of different actors driving ambitious NDCs, and will look ahead to the next NDC update cycle.

Breakout sessions
1. Aligning NDCs and Long-term Low Emissions Development Strategies
This session will explore ongoing efforts and opportunities to align NDCs and LT-LEDS, as well as showcase country examples of alignment and how implementing and development partners are aligning technical and financial support for NDC and LTS alignment.
2. Alignment for ambitious adaptation action
This session will address the financial, governance and inclusion related barriers to increasing ambition in implementing NDC adaptation priorities in relation to the national adaptation plans (NAP) and showcase innovative approaches to scaling up adaptation ambition.
3. NDC Update Support: Preparing for 2025 and more ambitious and robust NDCs
For this session, participants are invited to discuss and evaluate collectively their own lessons learned from the last updating cycle and develop priorities and recommendations for 2025, getting inspired for their own context and engagement area.
4. Implementing climate change action in agriculture through an integrated water-energy-food nexus approach
The session aims to generate insights and recommendations for enhancing coordination and cooperation across sectors and levels of government to promote effective implementation of climate change action in the water-energy-food-ecosystem nexus.
5. Integration of Just Energy Transition into the NDCs
The session will present the status quo of integrating the Just Energy Transition (particularly coal exit) into NDCs by showing best practices of JET integration.
6. National benefits of climate transparency
The session will highlight the connection between transparency and NDCs and the ramifications at the national level. Moreover, it will explore the role of transparency beyond reporting in the international climate agenda.
7. Human-rights-sensitive NDCs
This session will highlight the importance of indigenous and women’s voices in climate action by featuring key experts and indigenous leaders as well as present some illustrative examples of successful state practice incorporating human rights and gender considerations in climate action and in NDCs more specifically.

1. NDC investment planning
This session will present and dive into step-by-step guidance for countries to develop and strengthen their climate commitments into actions through the preparation of climate investment plans based on current best practices collected by the NDC Partnership. Stages covered will include investment planning capacity, investment needs identification and prioritization, and investment mobilization.
2. Pipeline development and prioritisation
This session will showcase examples of countries who have conducted sectoral financial assessments to evaluate investment needs for climate conscious development pathways.
3. Showcasing carbon market projects to display their role in raising NDC ambitions
This session will engage and inform the audience on how projects in the global carbon markets play a crucial role in mobilizing financial tools and set ambitious goals to increase carbon-saving projects.
4. Integrated approaches on domestic climate finance
In this session, participants will learn about integrated financing approaches and respective instruments to put a green financial transformation into practice.
5. Building national capacity to access international finance
This session focuses on the capacity building elements required to access international climate finance.
6. Understanding financing needs for urban climate action
The session will raise awareness of the urgent need and opportunities to scale urban climate finance, and ongoing urban efforts. We will debate solutions to help scale finance for urban climate action. There will be a particular focus on how to scale urban adaptation finance and increase vertical integration.
7. Amplifying adaptation: Accelerating private sector investment in climate-resilient solutions
The session aims to foster a meaningful exchange of insights on successful public-private-IFI partnerships, delve into the challenges that hinder the effectiveness of proposed actions, and explore ways in which we can collaboratively bridge the adaptation finance gap.

This session will focus on the challenges and opportunities for industry decarbonization and provide background on the open and inclusive international Climate Club. The Club was established to support the effective implementation of the Paris Agreement by accelerating climate action and increasing ambition, with a particular focus on the industry sector.
